  • Art Degree - A number of universities and colleges offer programs which will lead to a bachelor or master degree in fine arts. These courses normally include social science, english, and natural sciences, studio art and art history. There are also schools of art and design offering post-secondary training in fine, multi-media arts, and craft education leading to various specialty certificates or to a bachelor or associate degree in fine arts.

Masters degree and bachelors degree programs in graphic design or fine arts are offered at many private design schools, colleges and universities.
  • Interior Design - A bachelor's degree, or at least some postsecondary education, is recommended for interior design entry level positions. Colleges, universities and professional design schools offer training programs which typically take between 2 and 4 years to complete.
  • Makeup Artist - There are a number of private and public postsecondary vocational institutions offering programs in makeup artistry and skin care.
  • Photography - Courses in digital photography are offered in many junior and community colleges, vocational and technical institutes, universities and technical and private trade schools.

Those individuals who are choosing to become medical illustrators should have both a detailed knowledge of living organisms, medical and surgical procedures, and animal and human anatomy, in addition to a demonstrated artistic ability. The majority of medical illustrators choose to earn a master degree in medical illustration. Currently in the United States, there are four accredited schools.

Most often, art directors will begin in entry level positions in motion picture production businesses. Following a demonstration of leadership and artistic abilities, artists may be promoted to the position of art director. Course work in art direction is offered as part of the curricula in some art and design schools. An art administration degree is also an option for some art directors. This degree teaches non-artistic skills such as finance and project management.
