Choosing a School offering Online Accredited Degrees - Choosing an accredited school is a must if you want your degree to be accepted by employers. Accreditation is an assurance that a school meets accepted quality standards. There are two types of accreditation, institutional—which applies to the entire school and programmatic or specialized--which applies to special program within a school or to specialized program in a specialized school. Getting Started: Assessing where you are at - As you embark on your degree program you will want to assess how many college credits you already have. You may have earned college credits in military training programs and business training programs and not have realized that these can count towards college. Even if you have never taken any formal training beyond high school your life experience and/or job experience may qualify you for some college credit. For example, you may be a computer whiz or an excellent photographer and yet never have taken any formal training; you can earn credit for courses in which this knowledge would have been acquired.

Online Accredited Degrees - How Long will it Take? - The time it takes to get your degree will depend on many factors:

What type of degree you want—associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, or career program.
How many credits you already have.
How many classes you take each semester. Remember if you have not been to school for several years, you will most likely do better if you take only one or two classes at first.

Be cautious of any school that says you can get your degree in an unreasonably short period of time. There are some unscrupulous “diploma mills” out there. To be sure you are not stung by one of them, check out the school thoroughly before you apply.

• Systems Analyst - Employers generally prefer applicants who have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, or management information systems (MIS). Employment is expected to increase much faster than the average and more new jobs are expected to arise than in all but a few other occupations.
  
• Computer Software Engineer - The usual college major for applications software engineers is computer science or software engineering. Systems software engineers often study computer science or computer information systems. Graduate degrees are preferred for some of the more complex jobs. In 2006, about 80 percent of workers had a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  
• Veterinary Technicians - There are primarily two levels of education and training for entry to this occupation: a 2-year program for veterinary technicians and a 4-year program for veterinary technologists. About 16 colleges offer veterinary technology programs that are longer and that culminate in a 4-year bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology. These 4-year colleges, in addition to some vocational schools, also offer 2-year programs in laboratory animal science. Several schools offer distance learning.
  
• Financial Analyst - There are an excellent number of choices for an Online Financial Management Course and/or Financial Management Degree. • Veterinarian - Prospective veterinarians must graduate with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M. or V.M.D.) degree from a 4-year program at an accredited college of veterinary medicine. There are 28 colleges in 26 States that meet accreditation standards set by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
  
• Pharmacy Technician - Formal pharmacy technician education programs require classroom and laboratory work in a variety of areas, including medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacy recordkeeping, pharmaceutical techniques, and pharmacy law and ethics.
